Following our initial update on Hurricane Irma, we have reopened our reservations offices, and begun reaching out to guests with stays impacted by our resort closures. Water service is restored across most of the island, electricity has been restored to more than half, and cleanup is progressing well. We are happy to confirm that Grace Bay Club is now scheduled to reopen on September 30—one day earlier than previously announced—and West Bay Club remains scheduled to reopen October 1.
In our initial update we expressed concern for some of our employees who have been badly affected by the storm and whose homes have been destroyed or seriously damaged. Countless individuals have written offering support and concern, and many have also inquired about making a donation in support of affected employees. In response, we have started a fund at the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/hurricane-irma-gbr-employee-relief.
The fund will be used to help rebuild and repair the homes of our team, and to provide for their families’ basic needs. Grace Bay Resorts has already stepped in to provide temporary housing for those most affected, and we have made significant progress in providing longer-term housing solutions for those team members without homes. We are #TCIStrong, and our entire community continues to work tirelessly to restore and rebuild the Turks & Caicos Islands to be better than ever. #TCIRebuiltEvenStronger
We will continue to provide updates on operations throughout Grace Bay Resorts and the islands. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers remain with our neighbors who have been impacted by this terrible storm.
