The Lewa Marathon near Lewa Safari Camp: The Lewa Marathon is an annual event near Lewa Safari Camp in Kenya, coined by Runner’s World as ‘one of the top ten races to run in your life’. The marathon is held within the Lewa Conservancy and is a particularly unique event as there are no barriers separating the runners from the wildlife! ESPN described the event as one where you can “expect to encounter the park’s four-legged residents along the route — giraffes are particularly sociable and often accompany runners for as much as a half mile.” Every year, almost 1,300 people from 20 different countries flock to Lewa preparing to make their way through the captivating African surroundings. To date, the marathon has raised close to $5 million! All proceeds are put towards the protection and conservation of wildlife and community development projects in Kenya.
Walk of History at Jebel Akhdar near The Chedi Muscat: Visiting Oman wouldn’t be complete without venturing into one of Oman’s most spectacular areas – Jebel Akhdar. Jebel Akhdar, which means Green Mountain, refers to the northern section of the Al Hajar Mountain range.
