Our sales manager, Blane Bevilacqua, recently had the pleasure of leading a FAM trip of wonderful travel advisors to Bali to discover the destination, learn the culture and interact with the local people. During their trip, they stayed at The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah and The Legian – two properties distinct in their offerings but rich in an authentic sense of Bali and its heritage.
From rice paddy trekking and traditional Balinese dining at The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah to experiencing downtown Seminyak and soaking in world-famous sunsets at The Legian, the FAM trip to Bali was complete with culture, uncommon adventures and inspiration. Learn all about the properties and Blane’s first-hand experience in this edition of On The Road!
The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah
What were your favorite property features of The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah and The Legian Bali?
The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah was unbelievable. It feels like you are visiting a local village in the middle of Bali. You right in the midst of the rice fields – it’s so serene and beautiful. And I especially loved seeing all of the baby ducks walking around.
I enjoyed witnessing The Legian’s famous sunsets first-hand and relaxing by their beautiful pools after long days spent walking around downtown Seminyak. There was no better way to end my trip in Bali.
The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah
What was the highlight of your stay with The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah and The Legian Bali?
From The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah, you can participate in amazing rice paddy trekking and visit some of the local villages. The Chedi totally feels like its own little village. I really enjoyed walking the grounds while taking in the scenery of the water gardens and traditional Balinese statues. It was really something!
The Legian is the perfect property for travelers that are looking for pure relaxation. I loved starting my morning off with a stroll along the ocean. Aside from the amazing scenery and the fun and friendly staff, I could spend hours on the beach enjoying the water and of course, the beautiful sunsets.
What was the most significant thing you learned on your trip?
Everything you may have heard about how welcoming and peaceful the Balinese people are is absolutely true! I loved getting to meet some of the locals and it was nice to get a real sense of their daily life – that is something that always fascinates me. The people truly made the trip special!
What was your favorite local activity?
I absolutely loved visiting the villages. I was able to experience one of the traditional Balinese blessing and purification ceremonies, which took place in the compound of a local family. The Braham performed the blessing ceremony for us. It was a moment that I’ll never forget.
What set this trip apart from your previous experiences on the road?
I was so lucky to be leading such an amazing group of travel advisors on this FAM trip! It is always fun traveling in good company and having the opportunity to explore a new destination and learn together.
What advice would you give to someone looking to book a trip to The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah and The Legian?
The Chedi serves some of the best food I’ve ever had! I would highly recommend trying their local dishes and spending time in their traditional Balinese dining venue – it really makes for a memorable experience and is the perfect place to sit and relax after a long day of exploring.
The Legian is the perfect property for travelers looking for a bit of everything. On one hand, you are just minutes away from downtown Seminyak, where you can find some of the country’s best restaurants and nightlife. But the property also serves as a place to disconnect and enjoy the ocean, spa, and the true character of Bali.
For clients looking to extend their trip in Bali, are there any other properties that you would recommend?
We spent a few days exploring Tabanan while we enjoyed a stay at The Soori Bali. This property has incredible views of the sparkling ocean and the volcanic black sand. The Soori is the perfect property for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Bali and is ideal for those clients who appreciate architecture and design. The travel advisors and I had a great time walking the beach and experiencing The Soori’s authentic cuisine and exciting outdoor activities. I would highly recommend an extended stay here!
