Inca Rail Introduces Peru’s Most Scenic Train to Machu Picchu in March 2018

Travellers and explorers venturing to the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu have a wider choice of train travel available to them following the launch of Inca Rail’s new service, the 360° Machu Picchu Train – Peru’s most scenic train with dome-like panoramic windows that will begin operation in March 2018.

A tourist service for the modern-day explorer looking for an authentic journey to the Lost City of Machu Picchu, the new 360° Machu Picchu Train will have taller and wider panoramic windows with in-built UV protection to the sides that stretch above into the dome of each carriage. From the seats of the reupholstered and refitted carriages, passengers will be able to fully appreciate the soaring Andes mountain range above them as they journey to and from Machu Picchu.

Unlike most existing services on the route, the 360° Machu Picchu Train carriages will be inter-connecting, freeing passengers to move between carriages to an open-air observation carriage at the center of the train, from which they can step out and breathe in the crisp mountain air and take photos of the amazing landscape. Custom-designed by Inca Rail, the 360° Machu Picchu Train service will consist of two sets of three new carriages carrying up to 248 passengers per route. This new service has two departures between Poroy and Machu Picchu, and four departures between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu.

The 360° Machu Picchu Train will have connectivity that modern travelers demand, including USB ports at each seat for charging smartphones and other devices. Passengers can download a special GPS activated app at the start of their journey, which will give information on the culture, history and countryside passing by the windows. The immersive Peruvian experience on board will be enhanced by the train’s culinary offerings, with a light meal offered during the midday schedules that will change with the seasons and reflect the regions through which the train passes. Organic juices pressed from fruit and vegetables grown in the Sacred Valley will enhance gastronomic experience.

The 360° Machu Picchu Train is bookable for departures from March 1st 2018 and is priced from USD 191 per person for a round trip from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu rising during high season.
