DestinationMapChediMuscatThe first contemporary hotel to open in The Sultanate of Oman, The Chedi Muscat is a five-star beach resort that imaginatively fuses Omani architecture and Asian Zen style.

This elegant retreat, with its symmetrical gardens, manicured hedges and soothing pools, sits on a private beach overlooking the Gulf of Oman and the Hajar Mountains. The hotel’s minimalistic design and Omani accents create an aura of simplicity and peace — an idyllic haven for business and leisure travelers. The property is conceived and operated by General Hotel Management (GHM), a worldwide leader in creating distinctive hotel concepts inspired by the landscape, architecture and culture of a destination.

Featuring 158 rooms and suites with breathtaking views of the water gardens, Hajar Mountains or Gulf of Oman, the hotel offers a range of accommodations for travelers. Each room is decorated with understated elegance — soft, muted tones and minimalistic design are enhanced by unique lighting accents. The Chedi Club Suites are individual villas that offer extra amenities, including access to the The Club Lounge for complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails and canapés. Rooms are further accentuated with Bose sound systems, lavish bathrooms and a complimentary minibar (water, soft drinks and beer only in Serai and Deluxe Rooms, alcohol included in Deluxe Club Rooms and Chedi Club Suites).

A host of Zen-inspired amenities awaits guests. In addition to a private beach, there are three pools: the adults-only infinity Chedi Pool and Long Pool, and the family-friendly Serai Pool, where the lounge chairs seem to float on water. The Spa’s treatments – including the signature Chedi Oriental Ritual — draw from a range of wellness traditions and feature rejuvenating natural ingredients such as Himalayan cedar, Morrocan rhassoul mud, rosehip seeds and grapefruit. At the Health Club, guests revel in the group classes, personal training and state-of-the-art equipment. There are also conference facilities, ideal for small corporate meetings and private events.

With the sea, mountains, desert and enchanting Muscat within visiting distance, guests enjoy a range of diverse activities. Water sports including snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, dolphin-watching and turtle reserve trips in the clear-blue Gulf can all be arranged through the concierge. In the desert, take a four-wheel drive excursion over majestic sand dunes. Or simply explore Muscat, a city where traditional souks, the spectacular Grand Mosque and the Royal Opera House provide an irresistible mix of old and new.

Adjacent to the lobby with beach views and indoor and outdoor seating, The Restaurant is known for its fine Middle Eastern, European, Indian and Asian cuisine. Watch the chefs at work in four open display kitchens — a moveable feast, indeed. For fresh seafood and crustaceans, The Beach Restaurant is a delicious choice. And the Arabian Courtyard delights the palate with an exotic menu of grilled meat and fish. Lighter fare is available poolside at The Serai, The Chedi and The Long Pool Cabanas, as well as in The Lobby Lounge.
