An urban retreat set in the mountainside city of Zurich, Atlantis by Giardino allows for a seamless stay for those seeking both cosmopolitan flair and nature’s majesty.

Strikingly green Üetliberg Mountain stands sentry over the hotel, with its 95 decadent guest rooms and suites, multi-award-winning dining and raved-about spa. Renovated and reopened in December 2015, the hotel recalls a glam age – and has played host to Steve McQueen, Muhammad Ali, Freddie Mercury and many other notable guests. This superior city stay, just steps from the peaceful forest, is truly the best of both worlds.

Classic rooms – the largest standard rooms in Zurich at 34 square meters – at Atlantis ensure instant tranquility, where one is ensconced in subtle color schemes and hand-selected furnishings. Those who seek more space may opt for a Generous room, most of which feature a balcony, allowing the outdoors in. Larger still, Luxe guest rooms are bright and airy with vast views over the serene neighboring mountain or the rooftops of Zurich. Suites come in a variety of sizes and layouts, and include a collection of posh, individually designed retreats for the ultimate indulgence – the largest suite in Europe is here, too, the Royal Residence, at 1,500 square meters.

Life is good at Atlantis by Giardino, as evidenced by the thoughtful amenities afforded each guest – think breakfast each morning, balconies in most rooms, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, dipiù spa body-care products, Nespresso coffee machines, Belmondo tea service, minibar nonalcoholic beverages and snacks, shuttle service to and from the city center and more. Zurich’s only outdoor hotel pool, as well as an indoor pool, a sauna, fitness center and relaxation area in the spa allow for quiet, wellness-minded moments.

Set as it is on the edge of Üetliberg Mountain, Atlantis by Giardino nearly begs its guests to savor the crisp alpine air and get out and play. There’s a trekking trail to the mountain, cruising and sailing on Lake Zurich, complimentary bikes available for guests, historic sights in museums and in Old Town, and shopping, theater and art in the city. Back at the hotel, the dipiù spa is a heavenly spot for massages and beauty treatments. A dedication to Ayurvedic healing and wellness practices is evident through the Ayurveda by Giardino program, as well as Ayurvedic cooking classes and workshops.

Hide & Seek, as one might expect by the name, has a few surprises up its sleeve, with a casual menu of creative fusion cuisine: It draws its inspiration both from contemporary sources and from Ayurveda. Each dish incorporates salty, sweet, bitter, sour, spicy and tart components. Ecco Zurich has been awarded two Michelin stars and 17 Gault Millau points, taking its cue from the Ecco restaurants in Ascona and St. Moritz, known for their culinary genius and purist approach to taste.

Atlantis by Giardino is located a 10-minute drive from the Zurich main station, a 20-minute drive from the Zurich Airport. Guests may also arrive into Basel, Berne and Geneva Airports, with a longer drive to the hotel. The hotel is also located on Switzerland Tourism’s “Grand Tour of Switzerland”.
