From the start, Azura Retreats has committed to minimizing their environmental footprint without compromising the luxury that their guests appreciate. They put an environmental and community specialist on the ground at Azura Benguerra Island before the first brick was laid. In fact, they even made their own bricks and trained the local islanders in vital building skills in the process.
At Azura Quilalea Private Island, they have an advanced rainwater harvesting system to reduce the need for desalination. They’ve also undertaken a number of initiatives at Azura Selous to preserve the pristine environment of the Selous Game Reserve, such as establishing a grey water recycling plant – the first of its kind in the area. And finally, through their Rainbow fund, they support various social and environmental projects.
