Zemi Beach House: On the Road with David

Nestled on six oceanfront acres on Anguilla’s tranquil Shoal Bay East, Zemi Beach House blends a contemporary luxury with experiences anchored in the rich island tradition. From nourishing treatments within an ancient Thai house to small-batch rums enjoyed within the elegant Rhum Room, guests are transported by experiences that awaken and engage their senses.

Our very own David Corke had the luxury of visiting Zemi Beach House for a first-hand experience and he came home quite relaxed and an expert in snorkeling.

What was your favorite part of the dining experience?

The octopus tacos, hands down! You also have the option of the Mahi, Shrimp, Chicken or Steak tacos which they pair ever so perfectly with cabbage slaw, Pico de Gallo and cilantro sour cream.

It’s very clear that food always tastes better with no shoes on… in your swimsuit… on the beach. At Zemi you can dine on the sand or indoors beneath the soaring 32-foot ceiling of 20 Knots. This casual restaurant and beach bar features international cuisine combining Caribbean and Latin American inspired flavors.

The beach bar menu offers every tropical cocktail imaginable paired with fresh seafood, a variety of burgers and small plates. For an even healthier route I suggest trying one of their salads which utilizes fresh, locald ingredients and are committed to energizing your body. One salad on the menu combines thick carrot like noodles with sesame seeds and coconut milk dressing. Delish! Simply perfect beach-side service in paradise, it doesn’t get much better than that.

What was your favorite activity you participated in while visiting Zemi Beach House

Aquatic life is the good life… I went for several snorkeling outings in the warm turquoise waters right off the beach. I spotted many wonders of the sea including Blue Tang, Parrot Fish, Trumpet Fish, Lasso Lion Fish, lobsters and stingray. I also ran into a Barracuda but, fortunately for me, I wasn’t wearing any jewelry so the Barracuda kept on its merry little way. Phew!

Any tips for travelers heading to Anguilla?

Prepare to relax, relax and relax. This Caribbean island like many is extremely chill and not at all a party town. Visits to the Valley are recommended which is Anguilla’s capital. Cute renovated West-Indian-style cottages take over the area with new and old shops to peak into.

The last but not least thing you need to partake of on this cute island is E’s Oven – famous for their conch stew and warm hospitality. E’s Oven has some of the tastiest West Indian food on the island.

Special Tip: Their roast chicken is succulent and one of the best I’ve ever had!
