New Partner Announcement: PRINCIPAL

If you’ve always dreamed of exploring the UK while staying in an iconic hotel, you’ll be thrilled to learn of JG Black Book’s new partner! PRINCIPAL is a collection of city-centre hotels, based in landmark buildings in exceptional locations across the United Kingdom, including Edinburgh, York, Manchester and – from November – London. Each of the hotels has a story to tell – of its history, its design and architecture, its quirks and characters, and its role in shaping the city and forging relationships with local partners, whether corporate or creative.

The Principal Edinburgh is rich in heritage with plenty of local charm, located just a few minutes from Waverley Station. At its heart are five elegant Georgian townhouses, built in 1775 as homes for Edinburgh’s most prosperous citizens. The interiors of this award-winning hotel combine luxurious natural materials such as oak, marble and leather with a palette of colors inspired by the great 19th-century Scottish landscape painters.

With its clock tower and striking Victorian architecture, The Principal Manchester is an unmistakable landmark in the city’s skyline. A magnificent, terracotta Grade II listed building, the hotel has a history dating back to 1890, when it first opened as The Refuge Assurance Company headquarters. Opposite Oxford Road Station and just a 10-minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly, The Principal Manchester is perfectly placed for business travel and weekend getaways and is close to many of the city’s attractions.

The Principal York, just steps from the train station, is the perfect base from which to discover the historic city. Blending the grandeur of late-Victorian architecture with the comforts of modern travel, The Principal York offers its guests the warmest welcome to be found in Northern England. Award-winning interior architects Goddard Littlefair have refurbished and restored the hotel’s rooms and public spaces to create 155 elegant, comfortable bedrooms and suites in balanced, neutral tones that offer more than just a place to sleep.

The Principal London is a grand Victorian hotel in a beautiful location overlooking Bloomsbury’s Russell Square that will be opening in November 2017. The hotel boasts a striking, thé-au-lait terracotta exterior, with four British queens guarding the entrance. Inside, striking, contemporary interior designs by Tara Bernard and Russell Sage pay homage to the hotel’s illustrious history, while providing five-star luxury for the modern traveller.
