Surrounded by flower gardens that bloom year-round, the 43 free-standing casitas, all with terracotta-tiled roofs, create a whimsical village built in harmony with the magnificent natural landscape. The size of the casitas varies, accommodating up to five guests, and each features a marble-tiled bath, high-density Peruvian cotton bed linens and breathtaking views of the gardens and mountains from private terraces. Each light-filled casita has its own artistic theme, combining clay murals, cheerful sculptures of local animals and woven Peruvian fabrics to give guests an intimate connection to the Valley, its people and its natural splendor.
Situated on more than 32 pristine acres in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the lodge is an idyllic full-service resort with swimming pool, spa, restaurant, lounge and wine cellar. The flourishing gardens attract 35 varieties of birds in a setting that’s in complete balance with nature. The Yacu Wasi Spa nestled in the gardens, offers treatments, massages, gym facilities and a Jacuzzi, as well as yoga and Tai Chi instruction. And Nina Hall, named after the quecha word for “fire,” offers a fully equipped business center and meeting room for up to 150 guests.
Activities completely immerse guests in the unique culture and history of Peru’s Sacred Valley of the Incas. The lodge is an ideal base to explore renowned archeological sites, including Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Moray and Machu Picchu. The valley is also an outdoor lover’s dream, and the lodge takes guests on horseback riding, hiking, biking, paragliding, rafting and kayaking excursions. On property, there are cooking, weaving and pottery workshops, as well as traditional performances, seasonal theatre and contemporary circus performances to give guests a true flavor of the region.
Organic fruits, vegetables and herbs from local farmers enhance the taste sensations at Killa Wasi, the main fine dining restaurant, or the casual Wayra. Earthen fireplaces cast a warm glow on this cozy venue where the internationally renowned Peruvian executive chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino designs seasonal menus combining regional authenticity with European panache. Guests may choose from 100 acclaimed wines in the wine cellar, which is also available for intimate private dinners. And at the Chicha Wasi lounge, try refreshing cocktails prepared using exotic fruits or tasty pisco sours, a local favorite.
The owners of Sol & Luna lodge spa are dedicated to living in harmony with the environment and giving back to the local community. They established Sol & Luna Association to support educational, cultural and sports programs to stimulate a better quality of life in surrounding neighborhoods. The association has funded art festivals, music events and instructional classes and runs an intercultural school to give the opportunity of quality education to more than 145 local children.
Sol & Luna lodge spa is located in Urubamba, one of the most important towns in Peru’s Sacred Valley of the Incas, at a short distance from Machu Picchu. It’s about an hour’s drive from the city of Cusco, which is a 60-minute flight from Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport. The lodge can arrange a “meet and greet” airport transfer in Cusco.
