DestinationMapSingitaEbonyLodgeLocated in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve on a 45,000-acre expanse of pristine savannah renowned for its concentration of big game, Singita Ebony Lodge is a traditional stone and thatch lodge that evokes an intense feeling of familiarity.

The original Singita lodge, it is the epitome of elegant comfort and inviting warmth. The soulful combination of rich colors, textures and layers invites a sense of authentic charm and comfort. Each private suite has its own plunge pool overlooking dazzling views of the Sand River and, of course, the animals that make a safari experience one of the most incredible visual events in the world.

Languishing in the shade of Jackalberry trees on the bank of the Sand River, the suites at Ebony Lodge are quiet sanctuaries of luxurious simplicity and refined comfort. Each of the lodge’s 12 double suites features an en suite bathroom and shower, outdoor shower, private swimming pool, double-sided fireplace, private lounge and game-viewing deck. The entire lodge may be booked for groups or families. Children of all ages are welcome.

When you return from adventures in the bushveld, a most civilized setting awaits you, complete with an open boma, gymnasium, health spa, library, wine cellar and swimming pools. Restore your body’s natural balance and soothe away stresses at the Singita Spa, offering body and skin-care treatments in the tranquility of the therapy rooms or the privacy of your suite. In the Singita Boutique & Gallery, fine art, sculpture, jewelry and fashions by African artists and craftsmen make beautiful keepsakes of your journey to the continent. WiFi is available.

The sound of creatures awakening to a new day will stir your senses, as nature’s primal story unfolds on the grandest of all stages. Guided by experienced rangers and game trackers, guests are invited to participate in early morning and evening spot-lit game drives in open Land Rovers. Wildlife is abundant at the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, where herds of buffalo and elephant, large prides of lion, majestic leopards, antelope by the thousands, birdlife and smaller animals can be seen. Guided bush walks and community visits can also be arranged.

South Africa’s diverse cultures and cosmopolitan influences inspire the unique culinary experience at Singita Lodges. Breakfasts and luncheons are enjoyed on the deck overlooking the Sand River and African savannah. Whether you choose a gourmet meal in the dining room or a romantic dinner in your suite, you’ll find a fusion of venison, fresh fish, pastas, soups and vegetables. Dining around a fire in the boma under a starlit sky while a Shangaan choir sings is the perfect setting for haute cuisine African style. Menus are tailored to your desires and Ebony’s comprehensive wine cellar offers hundreds of vintages to complement your choices.
