Set deep within the Mara North Conservancy, Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp is an intimate and exclusive tented camp in the heart of the wilderness. This camp takes you back to the essence of real safari, with comfortable luxury, delicious cuisine, and no fences to prevent animals wandering around the camp particularly at night.

Recognizing the value of time well spent with family and friends, the Elewana Collection introduces discerning travelers to East Africa through impeccably designed lodges that invite true relaxation, as well as the thrill of a real adventure. Complementing their locations in prime game-viewing areas, on quiet white-sand beaches or even in a coffee plantation, are lavish comforts, including fresh cotton sheets, elegant rooms and gourmet meals. Family-friendly, individually styled and exuding warm and personalized hospitality, the lodges are a savvy blend of high-class safari and low-impact tourism. Guests are encouraged to become part of the local community and conservation projects, thereby returning home with a piece of East Africa instilled in their hearts forever.

Accommodations

Designed for those seeking a private safari feel, Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp offers eight en suite tents and two spacious honeymoon/family tents. Each is elegantly furnished with Raj campaign furniture and 24-hour solar LED lighting. Guests gather around the campfire, at the dinner table, and in the library and lounge, where there are also charging facilities available.

Amenities

While emanating a colonial safari ambience, the camp amenities are as modern as possible, including charging facilities, around-the-clock solar LED lighting, complimentary mineral water, a gift shop, WiFi in the main areas, laundry service, croquet, boules and more. The camp is higher than 4,000 feet, putting it at very low-risk for malaria.

Activities

Set in the Masai Mara’s prime game-viewing area – classified as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World” – Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp is a leisurely half-hour game drive from the Mara River migration crossing. Guests may spend a day witnessing the spectacle, glimpsing elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, giraffe and more. Shared game drives in 4×4 vehicles take place day and night, with highly knowledgeable guides, as well as guided bush walks, cultural visits, and trips to local community projects. Guests can also gather around the campfire at night and listen to the soundtrack of the African bush with the camp managers, who share their knowledge and stories of the bush. The camp is also close to Leopard Gorge, the famous setting for the BBC’s “Big Cat Diaries.” Children’s activities include good old-fashioned fun: casting animal prints in plaster, short guided “camp” bush walks, warrior training, school visits and more.

Dining

Each day delights with lavish bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and sundowners – the perfect time to gather and share visions of what another day of adventure may bring. Meal times are shared affairs, with a convivial and intimate atmosphere. Private dinners may be arranged upon request. World-class cuisine is accompanied by a premium wine list. Individual dietary requests can be satisfied with advanced notice; a children’s menu is available.
